Jon Favreau wrote, produced, directed, and starred in Chef, about a restaurant chef who loses his job and tries to start anew with a food truck.
And whether or not you consider yourself a foodie, he thinks this movie will leave you satisfied.
“I shoot food like Michael Bay shoots women in bikinis,” joked Jon when he called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday.
After directing blockbusters like Iron Man and Cowboys & Aliens, “It was fun to see whether or not I still had the chops to do what I started off doing, an independent film, with movies like Swingers and Made. I’ve been working on the big stuff. It was really fun to go back and write whatever was in my heart.”
And he even rolled up his sleeves and spent time under Roy Choi‘s guidance to prepare for the role.
“He was my consultant and the person who trained me for the film and went through the script and introduced me to all the chefs,” explains Jon. “I actually worked in his kitchens as a part of his kitchen staff for a few months.”
And now, Jon is a pretty good cook himself! In fact, he told Ryan and Ellen, “I’m putting a commercial kitchen in my house.”
Chef, which also stars Sofia Vergara and Scarlett Johansson, is in theaters now!
