Join the community conversation! In the upcoming school board election, the people of the of Ferguson-Florissant School District have the opportunity to be a part of history. A court ruled the school district's prior electoral system violated the federal Voting Rights Act and the school board was not responsive to the community. In order for the African American voice to be heard, a federal court ordered the district to use an election system called "cumulative voting." Voters are allowed to cast as many votes as there are open seats. This system increases the opportunity for minority groups to gain representation in an election. Join us as we walk through how cumulative voting supports a school board responsive to the people it represents. We’ll also meet the candidates running for school board and the St. Louis County Board of Elections will discuss how the new system works.
