Disneyland Reveals Unexpected Snack As Most Popular Treat In The Parks

All Disney fans know their are some park snacks that are simply iconic. From the Mickey-shaped pretzels (and ice cream bars, ice cream sandwiches, waffles and more) to Dole Whip, there's no shortage of deliciousness for park-goers. It's often assumed that these iconic park snacks must also be the most popular. A new report from FOODBEAST, however, reveals a newbie Disneyland treat is actually outselling the other classic snacks.

Churro toffee debuted in Disneyland back in 2018. Since the churro-flavored toffee debuted two years ago, it's become a regular fixture on Disney food blogger's social media. As word got out about the new dessert, it quickly surpassed better known park fare to become one of the highest selling food item in Disneyland. According to Disneyland Resort Candy Production Manager Monica Weda, churro toffee is the most successful item she's seen in her almost eight years working on the candy production team.

"The churro toffee has been Candy Production's number one selling item consistently, week over week." Weda told FOODBEAST. "I've never seen a treat over the last nearly eight years that has had popularity this strong and consistent."

According to FOODBEAST, churro toffee is made by "enrobing squares of toffee in a coating of white chocolate and then dusting it in a cinnamon sugar." Weda also confirmed to the outlet that the toffee uses the same blend of sugar and spice that's used on Disneyland's popular churros.

Disney Food Blog creator AJ Wolfe is also a big fan of toffee churros and helped kickstart the item's popularity says it has "some weird magical quality to it," while Weda said she doesn't "see it going away anytime soon." Not only does she think churro toffee will remain on the park menus for some time, Weda believes it's "going to become one of our staples."

Have you tried churro toffee yet?
