Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer full time working members of the Royal Family. It's been less than a month since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the historic decision to leave royal life behind and live abroad in Canada, however, the rest of the royals are already feeling stressed about picking up some of Harry and Meghan's former duties.
According to Us Weekly, Kate Middleton in particular has been worried about the big change in the monarchy. "Kate’s in a panic and has been having bouts of anxiety. She barely has time to rest, and when she does try to sleep, her mind is constantly racing," the source divulged. Kate has reportedly been working 18-hour days lately and is "stretched pretty thin." As Queen Elizabeth figures out who will take over Harry and Meghan's former duties, Kate is worried she'll be the one called to cover more ground.
In addition to Kate's own royal duties, she also has 3 kids of her own. While Kate and Prince William do have nannies to help with the care of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, they're believed to be pretty hands on parents, as well. The stress of potentially taking on more work has reportedly driven a wedge between Kate and Meghan, too. "They couldn’t be further apart," the source revealed.
Fortunately, Kate may not have to pick up any slack for Harry and Meghan. Harry and William's cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, may be asked to take over any unattended duties. Royal biographer Robert Lacey recently told Hello!, "If two go out, two have got to come in, and those two have got to be Beatrice and Eugenie. I’m sure they will step forward and be greatly welcomed... It’s ironic that Harry mentioned his cousins as models of how he wants to be.”
It remains unclear what Harry and Meghan's next career move will be, however, they vowed to honor the Queen's legacy and morals in whatever they choose. Two specials airing on Fox and ABC on Wednesday (January 29) will address their potential future as Hollywood moguls.
