Vanessa Bryant Renames Kobe's Charity To Honor Daughter Gianna

Gianna Bryant's legacy will live on through the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation.

On Thursday (February 13), Vanessa Bryant announced that her late husband Kobe Bryant's charity will have a new name to honor their 13-year-old daughter, who passed away alongside her father and seven others in a tragic helicopter crash last month.

"Because there is no #24 without #2, we have updated the Mamba Sports Foundation to now be called the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation," Vanessa captioned an Instagram photo of the charity's new logo. "Our mission remains the same – and stronger than ever – to provide opportunities to young people through sports. Thank you all for the outpouring of support and your kind donations to date as we carry forth Kobe and Gigi’s legacy. We hope to empower young athletes in a world they left us all to help shape. #Mamba #Mambacita."

News of the charity's renaming comes days after it was reported that Kobe and Gigi had been laid to rest at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar, California, on Friday (February 7). The private funeral took place two weeks after their fatal helicopter crash.

A public memorial for Kobe and Gigi is set for February 24 at Staples Center. Proceeds from the tickets will reportedly be donated to charity.
