Nicki Minaj is being sued for her 2018 track "Rich Sex."
According to TMZ, rapper Brinx Billions, whose real name is Jawara Headley, is suing the fellow Queens native for more than $200 million, claiming he let her hear his version of "Rich Sex" sometime before 2016 and Nicki jacked his song and put it on her Queen album.
In the legal docs, obtained by TMZ, Brinx claims Nicki told him the song would be "extremely marketable and become a global hit." Despite being credited as a writer on the track, Brinx says he should be credited as the sole author/creator/composer/writer/producer of “Rich Sex," TMZ reported. He points to lyrics such as "It ain't such a thing as broke and handsome" as evidence of Nicki's alleged jacking of his track.
Brinx additionally claims that Nicki's "Rich Sex," which features Lil Wayne, has "similar music, musical notes, musical arrangement, musical beats and musical rhythm" to his original track. In addition to suing Nicki, he is also suing Universal Music Group, Young Money, and Cash Money for more than $200 million in damages.
Nicki has yet to comment on the lawsuit. Most recently, she shared the first photos of her three-month old son. "#PapaBear thank you so very much for choosing me to be your mama 🎀🦄🙏," Nicki captioned a series of photos of her baby boy over the weekend. "Wishing you guys a happy & prosperous New Year. Thank you for your love & support throughout this journey. It’s meant so much to me." She added, "Becoming a mom is by far the most fulfilling job I’ve ever taken on. Sending love to all the superhero mothers out there. Big hugs to all the women who have been pregnant during this challenging time."
