'Arrested Development' Actress Jessica Walter Dead At 80

Award-winning actress Jessica Walter has passed away. She was 80-years-old.

Deadline confirmed the lauded actress died peacefully in her sleep. Walter was at home in New York City on Wednesday (March 24) when she passed.

Walter's incredible career spanned five decades. Throughout her career, Walter earned numerous Emmy nods, including for her roles in Trapper John M..D.and Streets of San Francisco. She more recently received an Emmy nomination and a SAG Award nomination for her memorable turn as Lucille Bluth in the cult classic sitcom Arrested Development. She took home the Emmy for her starring role in Amy Prentiss.

Before making a name for himself in films and TV shows, Walter began her storied career on Broadway. According to Deadline, she even earned the Clarence Derwent Award for Most Promising Newcomer.

Following Walter's passing, her daughter, Brooke Bowman, released a statement. “It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my beloved mom Jessica. A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on-screen and off. While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.”

Walter is also survived by her grandson Micah Heymann. In lieu of flowers, Walter's family requests that donations be made to Guiding Eyes for the Blind in the beloved actress's memory.
