Christina Applegate isn't holding back when it comes to talking about her multiple sclerosis battle and the sometimes "intense" pain the comes with it.
The Dead to Me star opened up about the difficult leg pain she experienced in a relapse of her MS during Tuesday's (April 2) episode of her MeSsy podcast with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, parts of which were recorded in 2023. During their chat, Applegate revealed that her leg pain was so bad that she couldn't walk or shower, per Page Six, with an "insane tingling" sensation from her "butt down" that made her feel like she would fall down if she tried walking to the bathroom.
"My legs have never been this bad and I don't know what's going on," she said. "Like, no energy. Legs are just done. I can't get circulation. I can't get them to stop hurting."
According to the National Institutes of Health, the chronic neurological disease affects the central nervous system and attacks the myelin that helps protect nerve fibers and can cause tingling, numbness and pain in the face and limbs, muscle weakness and even vision problems.
The Bad Moms actress, who publicly revealed her MS diagnosis in 2021, shared that the relapse was also affecting her ability to sleep, adding that she was waiting to hear back from her doctor about her symptoms.
"I haven't slept for 24 hours because my eye is doing something weird where every time I close my eye to go to sleep my right eye starts to shift like this," she said.
A rep for Applegate confirmed to People that the podcast episode was filmed "months ago" and that she is no longer in the relapse phase.
Applegate's comments come days after she appeared on another podcast where she shared a concerning new health update amid her MS battle, revealing that she had over two dozen lesions on her brain and calling her diagnosis the "worst thing that's happened" in her "entire life."
