On the latest episode of The Kardashians, Kim addressed Kanye's treatment towards her family in the last two years of their marriage. Before filing for divorce in February of 2021, Kanye had fired online attacks against Kim and her family. Probably most notably, a series of tweets in 2020 where Kanye claimed that Kim had tried to force him into a mental health facility against his will.

He also revealed private information regarding decisions about their first child, North, onstage at a political rally while he was running for president. The run itself had caused a lot of strain on their marriage, but the moment specifically seemed to be the final straw.

Kanye also had clashes with Kim's family, most namely matriarch Kris Jenner. He claimed that they were both "white supremacists" and publicly called Kris "Kris Jong-Un" after revealing texts about "going to war" with Kris on Twitter. Kim defended Kanye during this time with a rare public post on the situation and his bipolar disorder.

On the episode, Kim is reacting to information that Kanye was set to release a new song that she feared would be negative remarks about her and their divorce. Khloe, Kris, and Kendall weighed in to support Kim and her commitment to not publicly bashing Kanye for the sake if their children. Kim responded saying that she "will never stoop to his level" and that while she may have defended that type of behavior from him the past, she no longer will. "I can't control how he treats me, o how he treats you guys. I protected that for so long, but I said I will never let that happen to you guys again." She went on in a confessional stating "I do recognize the impact that my relationship has had on my family, and that I've never had the opportunity to just say, 'I'm sorry guys." Kim then went on to say to her family "For once in my life, I feel strong.I'm not gonna let anyone treat you guys a way- or myself."

As we now know, the song in reference was Kanye's scathing review of her relationship with Pete Davidson, 'Eazy', rapping "God saved me from this crash/Just so I could beat Pete Davidson's ass" and of their marriage "How I ain't bringing nothin' to the table when I'm the table?/ This is how I am in real life, not just on cable/ "Mr. Narcissist" tell me 'bout my arrogance/ No more consoling', I don't negotiate with therapists/". Ye goes on to rap about their divorce, his being considered a "noncustodial parent", her parenting style, and references to sister Kourtney and their kids.
