A Georgia Teen Found A Kidney Donor Thanks To Billboards!

Georgia college student Isabella Dufauchard was diagnosed with severe kidney failure two years ago when she was still in high school. Since then, the now-19-year-old Kennesaw State University student has been using an at-home dialysis machine for six hours every night and she says the experience has been difficult to navigate.

A month after her diagnosis, Isabella was told that she would need a new kidney to survive, so the hunt began for a healthy donor about her age willing to give her a kidney to save her life. Her family and friends were on board with the search and her mom even contacted two billboard companies to see if they would help with the search. Earlier this year, billboards went up around the Atlanta area looking for a donor. The billboards feature Isabella’s face and read “Be My Hero,” and have a website address for a site with her story and way to contact her family.

On Monday, Isabella’s family announced that a potential donor saw one of the billboards the first weekend they were up, contacted them, and turned out to be a perfect match. Isabella is currently undergoing the donation process and her transplant surgery is scheduled for next month.
